Revolución de Cuba
Viva la Revolucion!
Review
Up in Sheffield, we know a thing or two about the next big thing (Arctic Monkeys - hello?), so it's not surprising that Revolution, the same folk who brought us vodka in every flavour imaginable EVER, would think of the mighty Steel City as the primary location to open up their first dedicated Rum Bar in the U.K.
Tucked away on Mappin Street, Revolucion de Cuba offers both connoisseurs and revolutionaries alike the chance to soak up the Havana spirit (literally), whilst admiring the retro film posters and brightly coloured 50s furnishings which help to recreate an authentic Cuban vibe in the bustling city centre.
The bar itself boasts an impressive catalogue of Carribean spirits, stocking everything from firm faves such as Bacardi and Sailor Jerry, to some seriously rare and tasty top-shelf stuff like Havana Club Cuban Barrel and Angostura 1824 (which you can try as part of their weekly 'Rum Club' every Monday night). And if the hard stuff doesn't tickle your fancy, then Revolucion also have their own flavoured 'Rum Pinches' (shots of the good stuff) as well as classic cocktails, and even their signature 'Rum Punch' served in teapots as a nod to Cuba's 1930s underground speakeasies.
Of course, with all these tasty tipples around, it's also pretty handy that Revolucion de Cuba's cantina stays open 'til late serving some top-notch Latin-inspired grub such as Sticky Ribs, spicy Burritos, and juicy Rum Burgers, all complemented by a rum dip that packs a serious punch. Viva la revolucion!
