Out and About in Sheffield
Sheffield may feel like a village but it is in fact the fourth largest city in the land, so there's loads of ways to kill your time here. The Last Laugh Comedy Club (Memorial Hall, Barkers Pool, 0114 223 3752) is great if you like a few tipples and a bit of a giggle. But if it takes a lot more than a bit of comedy to really thrill you, then head for the Magna Science Adventure Centre (Sheffield Road, Rotheram, 01709 720 002). They have the UK's only indoor bungee jump and the old steel works setting means this comes with an adrenaline pumping guarantee. For those of a slightly gentler disposition, The Winter Gardens (Surrey Street, 0114 221 1900) is the must-see attraction. You can't say you've been to Sheffield if you haven't been inside the giant's greenhouse. And if that whets your cultural appetite, then get over to Weston Park Museum (Western Bank, 0114 278 2600), where you can learn all about the history of Sheffield, from the ice age to World War II.
