In these days of climate change, it's only a matter of time before acid rain and polluted drinking water turns recent corpses into stumbling, flesh-eating zombie killers. This inevitable fate requires a survival plan and here at Itchy we have it all mapped out...

First off, you should have started training months ago to be in peak physical condition for slaying horror film creations. If the zombies are running crazies like in 28 days later, then you should have been training at Green's (Napier St, S11 8HA, 0114 276 5333) to get ready to leg it. However, if they're old school stumbling zombies then all you need is a sturdy baseball bat from Decathalon (Eyre St, S1 4QY, 0114 229 8190) to whack them out of your way.

You may have just had to decapitate your zombie boyfriend but you still need to look good and get rid of the blood stains. Over at Ark (114 Devonshire St, S3 7SB 0114 272 2561) you can find some combat trousers and a cool belt to hang your brain-bashing crowbar on.

The Brown Bear (109 Norfolk St, S1 2JE, 0114 272 7744) has been a regular zombie hangout for years; Those glazed over looks and slurring has just been confused with alcoholism. The perfect place to practise your fighting skills whilst enjoying the Samuel Smith ales, the cellar opening provides a quick getaway. A short jog round the corner and Graves Gallery (Surrey St, S1 1XZ, 0114 278 2600) has a brilliant view across the city so you can admire the art as well as watching the decimation of steel city.

The obvious place to hole up and wait is Meadowhall (S9 1EP, 0114 256 8800). Every inch is filled with a variety of shops, from food outlets to gift shops so you would never be bored. More cultured survivors could head out of town to Chatsworth though (Bakewell, Derbyshire, DE45 1PP, 01246 565300), living in luxury and admiring the countryside until the army sweep in and firebomb the un-dead.
