Sheffield Roller Derby

This Saturday, see some people rolling around competitively...

Preview

Itchy has heard that roller derby is currently the world's fastest growing sport, with over 70 teams in the UK. The game involves one skater from each team lapping members of the opposition for points (and we don't mean lapping in any dodgy ways that you might be thinking... it means overtaking. Ahem.) If you've seen Whip It! (the Drew Barrymore film with all those women in long socks), you'll know. (And if you haven't seen it - why not?!)

Sheffield Steel Rollergirls' first bout of 2012 will be the debut of the wonderfully named The Inhuman League - Sheffield's first all-male roller derby league.

To see the action, and to enjoy a market, raffle, photobooth and cupcakes, get down to Ponds Forge International Sports Centre on January 28 from 1pm. Tickets are £7 or £6 in advance, concessions are £5 and Under 12s are free.
