Sheffield City Museum
If rocks and fossils get you going then you'll be as hard as one inside the City Museum. More interesting items include Egyptian mummies and ancient artefacts. It's also the official weather station for the Sheffield region so they should be able to explain why it's so bloody cold most of the year.
