Corporate takeover squeezed out the old, house–music friendly management, so not the same den of inequity it used to be but the Surrey is still a more than halfway decent boozer. A well–kept cellar ensures your pint's always up to scratch, and entertainment for the non–conversationalist comes in the form of an up–to–the–minute, chart–friendly jukebox and a couple of pool tables. Just over the road from the main Hallam campus, the student–friendly prices make this a sound choice for a bit of mid–lecture loafing.
