Deep End, The
Morrisons, the charity shops and The Deep End really are the only reasons to visit Hillsborough if you're not a Sheffield Wednesday fan. This converted swimming baths is now home to three bars and a secret live music venue. Step off the Supertram, walk through the entrance, past the changing rooms through to the pool and you'll find a sumptuous, candlelit back bar, a stage, and if you're lucky, any number of wily ex–guitar heroes and young Travis–a–likes playing Beatles covers. Beautiful. The best night to come is Tuesday's 'Can You Jam?' – also on Sunday afternoons – where you're invited to bring along your guitar/accordion/tin whistle/tambourine, get up on stage with the regulars and play your heart out to a usually full house of willing and very enthusiastic victims. Other nights include Wednesday's northern soul affair and Friday's Original Sin.
