The death of the cultural oasis that was the Casablanca Bar – now a restaurant, see restaurant section – may well be Art:Room's saviour. This classy bar offers live jazz most nights, and maintains the muso atmosphere even when the band's finished. Situated off the normal Sheffield bar route means that during the afternoon or on weeknights all you'll find is a sleeping barman and a stray jazzman in a roll–neck. But bring your mates on the weekend and you can tap your feet, smoke cigars, and discuss the work of Zola – the writer or the footballer – all you want.
