The Last Laugh Comedy Club

The oldest comedy club in Yorkshire, and a Sheffield institution, The Last Laugh is run and compered by local comedy legend, star of Phoenix Nights and Radio Sheffield DJ, Toby Foster. The Thursday night event at The Lescar sells out every week, so they also hold a show at The Rutland Hotel where the opening act at The Lescar closes the gig here – and vice versa –. It attracts some top acts from the circuit, and it's not unusual for the likes of Peter Kay, Ross Noble or Johnny Vegas to turn up and do a turn. Local stand–up talent is strong owing largely to the fact that people just can't help but piss themselves when a Sheffielder gets up and starts giving it all that "take David Blunkett for example...". They also do open mic spots as well, so you can die on your arse in front of all your – soon to be ex – mates.
