Chatsworth House
Full of monstrous oil paintings? Check. Rammed with lush antiques? Of course. Sometimes stately homes might be missing some of these things, but not Chatsworth House, ancestral seat of the Dukes of Devonshire. The gardens are delightful and you will find yourself using words like delightful as a result. Visiting someone else's old home might not be everyone's idea of a fun-packed day, but sometimes a bit of nostalgia for centuries past is exactly what the doctor ordered. And if not, you might at least pick up a few decorating ideas.
