Botanical Gardens
Sheffield has its fair share of green spaces among the hills and tower blocks that make up this city, but the Botanical Gardens is one of the best. At the first sign of sun it becomes over-run with amorous student couples, mums with tots and other picnic-goers, yet even at its busiest, an aura of tranquillity still lingers over the lawns. The quaint Victorian greenhouses provide something to do when you've finished your £1 ice cream and any park whose website has a 'plant of the month' feature has got to be worth a look around.
