Peak District National Park

Shivering Mountain, gritstone crags, underground cave systems, roads that needed to be abandoned because of landslides. This isn't part of the Universal Studios lot tour, this is actually some of the phenomenal scenery you will see in the Peak District. The National Park lies between Manchester, Sheffield, Derby and Stoke, and is the oldest national park in Britain. While seeing Mother Nature at her finest, check out the nearby market towns. For a day of some good escapism, this is the place to be. Just be sure to avoid holiday weekends or half-term because 'Damn Those Traffic Jams.'
