The Bowery
The Bowery bar has developed quite the reputation since it opened in 2009. With an ex-Arctic Monkey and the lads who bring you Threads and Tramlines Festival behind the wheel, we expected something a little special. The décor is a smorgasbord of local artists' work and is eclectic in its loveliness (keep your eye out for Simon the gorilla, perfect for that 'night out profile pic'). The atmosphere is made by the mega bar staff: banter and cocktail flaring come in hearty measures. The drinks list is extensive and is served in everything from tiki mugs to milk bottles (we sampled the White Russian, yum!) Live music every Friday night, DJs that play music you actually want to hear AND they stock Obama's favourite beer? We're sold. Oh, and if you pop in, be sure to ask about the £40,000 'rum incident.' Well worth the price of a pint.
